This was our third time at the arts Biennale in Venice (we went in 2013 and 2015 as well).
As ever, there was absolutely loads to see.
And the two days we had to explore just flew by.
Long days of art-spotting…
…followed by nights of sipping Aperol spritz by the canals.
I could do this for a living!
But as I can’t, at least I know I can come back for more in two years.
As Ai Weiwei, said…
“Art is not an end but a beginning”.
I don’t normally travel within the UK, but last weekend I went to visit a friend who recently moved to Cumbria.
The area is very scenic, perfect for long walks (weather permitting).
We visited Bolton Castle, which is really nice and has great views over the countryside.
There are many nice villages nearby, so we spent a couple of hours window shopping and sampling Wensleydale cheese in Hawes.
My friend runs the beautiful Brownber Hall, so we had plenty of time to relax in style, watching goldfinches flying by.
Berlin was great – as always.
I visited on a sunny weekend in August, a beautiful time to go.
For the first time I managed to visit the Reichstag (it’s free to go but you must book in advance).
The cool cupola by British architect Norman Foster is definitely worth a visit.
And it’s a great place to take weird self-portraits.
The street art around the East Side Gallery was a bit more damaged than I remembered.
But it’s still quite impressive.
And there are lots of other great street art all around the city.
This was also the first time I visited the impressive Berlin Cathedral.
From the top you get great views over the city.
And inside there are many amazing details too.
Sundays in Berlin are always great for brunch.
After eating at the lovely Napol Jonska in Prenzlauer Berg, we walked around Mauer Park.
This is a great area to see remains of the Berlin Wall in a less touristic area.
But we also stopped at some of the highlights – like the Brandenburg Gate and the memorial next to it.
Berlin never disappoints!
I went to Venice for the Arts Biennale and it was great. When we weren’t seeing amazing art, we were walking around the narrow roads and stopping to take lots of pictures. Venice is so beautiful!
I’ve been taking a course on Roman architecture so seeing it all up close in Rome was wonderful! The city is really beautiful and everywhere you go there’s something different to see.
Here are some of my favourite photos:
British winter is famously miserable, but now that it’s March, temperatures should be getting milder and flowers will soon start to bloom!
Here are some of my favourite images of springtime in the UK:
Paris is such a beautiful city! Everywhere you look there’s something to photograph. Here are some of my favourite photos from my weekend in Paris:
Geneva is a beautiful city, especially in the summer. There are many green areas, and Lake Geneva is great for a relaxing day in the sun.
Brighton is an extremely photogenic city, especially when it’s sunny. It’s much more relaxed than London – and just over an hour away by train – so it’s perfect for an easy day trip!
